I’m delighted to introduce the second newsletter from FNB International Trustees. In this issue, we will look at the forthcoming Foundations Law, which will be quite a useful alternative to the traditional trust.

We also look at a profile of Alan Glen who makes quarterly visits to South Africa. Wayne Mollet explores our Executorship and Will writing services and Rudi Bodenstein examines the values of offshore structures in legacy planning. I hope you find something of interest in this edition and would welcome any feedback as to other areas you suggest we could cover in future issues.

Finally, before you read on, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families compliments of the season and the very best of health, happiness and prosperity in 2013.

Geoff Gavey - Managing Director

FNB International Trustees (FNBIT) is the specialist offshore fiduciary provider of the FirstRand Group.  Based in the Channel Islands, just off the northwest tip of France in the English Channel, it has over 40 years of heritage and an innovative approach to the services it delivers from specialist structures for high net worth individuals across the globe, to more simple and affordable structures to wrap around more asset solutions.

It has closely aligned itself to the overall strategy of its parent the FirstRand Group, a major financial services group listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange with over 36,000 employees.  In this regard, it places a high emphasis on providing cost effective trust and company services to its target markets in Southern Africa and East Africa, all of which is covered in separate articles in this newsletter.  This focus allows us to bring particular expertise to developing and supporting these markets with specialist knowledge of legal and tax matters, coupled with regular visits from members of our staff to support our clients and intermediaries.
